Interesting futuristic romance

I really like this story - the romance between Jelena and Michael is well-written with clearly defined conflict and nice character development. There is plenty of external plot to keep the book moving along when the two aren't together. I took off a star because the world-building is a little slippery. I couldn't get a good fix on how long it had been before the people started awakening, but it seemed like a very short time for the regional social structure to develop. Also, the memory loss was inconsistent. Why would someone who could remember nothing about their past life remember what a banker was when none exist in the current society? The good thing about this world is it is a two-fer with both aspects of a futuristic sci-fi and an agrarian society fantasy.
Despite these minor annoyances (which, really, are no less than I've seen in major motion pictures) this was a great read for me. I actually liked the concept - an entire planet of people put into some sort of suspended animation to sleep through a global disaster. I'll look forward to more from Jessica Starre.
